Learn the fundamentals of metalsmithing in this project-based course. Acquire a wide range of skills by learning basic forming and construction techniques using stakes and hammers, sawing, stone setting, annealing and soldering. Experiment with all the covered techniques and materials as you create bracelets, rings, pendants, earrings, and brooches. The daytime class will also focus on surface design such as enameling and etching while the evening class will cover using Sterling Silver and wire-working.

Do you have an idea for a story that would be most appropriate for the stage? This class explores the theatrical style of storytelling and covers the basics of playwriting including dramatic structure, creating lively characters and constructing a narrative. Utilizing performance exercises—including improv and character building—group critique and class writing prompts, each student will develop and write their own play throughout the course. The course will culminate in a live performance reading of your playscript.

In this introductory class, learn to develop your power of observation and mark making skills through a series of lessons that focus on gesture, line, shape, value and spatial relationships.  Weekly lessons will emphasize how to translate focused observations into visual expression using a variety of drawing materials and approaches.  You’ll work primarily from still life and one session will focus on the figure using a clothed model.
